| I arrived at the Hot Springs of North Carolina on May 19, 1889 unable to walk except on crutches and with great suffering in all my joints from a severe attack of rheumatism, which had confined me to my bed for seven months, and was compelled to be wheeled around in a rolling chair. After two weeks' bathing in the luxurious baths, I was able to get on a horse without assistance, and enjoyed immensely the charming rides among these beautiful mountains. I am entirely free from pain, and for the past two days can walk without crutches or cane. I shall always feel grateful for the immense benefit I have derived from this most charming place. Lewis A. My husband and I have two small children and haven't had time for ourselves
in years. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Hot Springs Suites
and found the Hot Springs Resort & Spa to be the most relaxing and
romantic experience of our lives. After enjoying a therapeutic couples
massage, we stayed in the Honeymoon Suite and enjoyed the hot mineral
waters in our very own suite. We also sat out on the balcony and listened
to the music of the French Broad River. We have traveled all over the
world, and no place on this planet offers the type of experience we shared

| On the first day of August I began taking the baths at your hotel,
and at the end of thirty days I was able to resume my work, and since
that time, eighteen years ago, I have never had a touch of rheumatism.
Up to the time that I commenced the treatment, I had taken all the
medicine that I could find money to pay for, with no apparent benefit.
After commencing the baths, I discarded all other medicine, but drank
very freely of the waters. I give the hot mineral springs baths and
water all the credit for my present good health. My weight at this
time is 225 pounds, and I can work, if necessary, eighteen hours a

good fortune to rest within the circle of these beautiful mountains, and
I can conscientiously declare that nowhere in America have I found a sweeter
or more restful spot than these Springs. In location and beauty it is
the gem of the mountains; in air, walk and water, it has no superior.

As an expression of gratitude, I am very glad to submit to you the following,
which will give you some idea of what the wonderful waters of the hot
mineral springs baths did for me several years ago. At that time I was
following my business of lumber inspector in these mountains, and in January,
1896, I was taken with a very severe attack of rheumatism, and in March
was confined to my bed and unable to walk, and remained there for the
remainder of March and months of April, May, June and July.
Dear Sir: I cheerfully make the following statement in regard to the effects
of the baths at Warm Springs at your place on my system and health:
Previous to my visit at your place, on the 8th of June, I had a very violent
attack of rheumatism, which prostrated my system and confined me to my
bed-chamber for thirteen months. I had become almost entirely helpless,
and so emaciated as to weigh only 120 pounds. I remained at the springs
about three months, during which time I used the warm baths freely, which
relieved me entirely of rheumatism, and fully restored my general health,
causing me to weigh 160 pounds before leaving the Springs. I am a native
of the city of Lucca , in Italy ; have been in America twenty-three years.
During a visit to my native country a few years since, I used the Warm
Baths of the cities of Lucca and Nisa , Italy , but found the baths of
your place much more efficient in the restoration of my health than either

| Before I came to Hot Springs , N.C. , I had been troubled with rheumatism
in my back for twenty years, and it was getting worse each year. The
back of my neck was sore, stiff, and swollen so much that I could
hardly move my head sidewise without turning my whole body. My back
would cramp and pain me very much, and sometimes would so much that
I was unable to get out of bed, and sometimes would be caused by my
just snapping my fingers while making some demonstration. Medicines
only gave me temporary relief, so in January, 1913, I came to Hot
Springs, N.C., and took the baths, one per day for forty days, and
my back is strong and has been free from cramps and pains ever since,
and I feel safe in lifting anything I think it necessary for me to
do. I had some trouble with my stomach in former years, as while it
did not pain me any, I noticed it was not working right, so I decided
not to eat any breakfast but drank a good fill of the mineral water.
I have spent two to three months of each winter here since the first
trip, and I am free from pain and cramps and am feeling fine as silk,
and think the water did it. Any inquiries will be gladly answered.
